This circular walk takes you around Chew Magna, combining quiet village lanes with peaceful riverside and countryside paths. The route passes key village landmarks before heading out into open fields and along the River Chew, with lovely views across the valley.

The walk is approximately 3 miles (5 km) and takes around 1½ hours at a leisurely pace. With gentle gradients throughout, it’s ideal for a relaxed stroll and a great way to experience the character of the village and its surrounding landscape.

This walk links Chew Magna with the neighbouring village of Stanton Drew, following a mix of quiet lanes, riverside paths and open countryside. The route gently follows the River Chew before heading across fields towards one of Somerset’s most remarkable historic sites.

The walk is approximately 4 miles (6.5 km) and takes around 2 hours at a leisurely pace. The highlight is the Stanton Drew Stone Circles, a striking and atmospheric group of prehistoric stones. There is also the option to stop in Stanton Drew for refreshments at the village pub before returning, making this an ideal walk to combine countryside, history and a relaxed break.

This walk heads south from Chew Magna, following footpaths and riverside routes through open meadows towards Chew Valley Lake. Much of the route runs alongside the River Chew, offering a peaceful, level walk with wide views across the valley.

The walk is approximately 5 miles (8 km) and takes around 2½ hours at a relaxed pace. Reaching the lake and dam is a rewarding highlight, with opportunities to pause and enjoy the scenery before returning along the same route or via nearby paths.
